Listen to the Birds

One day, while praying quietly in a chapel, I found my mind drifting. My eyes glazed over the stained glass window, and I absentmindedly watched a bird fly past outside. Suddenly, I noticed more birds—dozens of them—soaring across the trees and sky. They were all chirping. How had I not heard them before?

If I can’t notice the birds chirping all around me during ordinary moments, how will I recognize when the Holy Spirit is speaking to me?

This realization sparked my journey to invite prayer into every part of my day, not just in moments of stillness but woven throughout the ordinary—by not only listening to God’s voice, but by seeking it out in everyday beauty.

From this inspiration grew the heart of BRDY (pronounced "bird-ee") — the purpose is to create a reminder of God's presence in the everyday. Introducing BRDY Candles: candles that do more than scent a room. They serve as gentle reminders of Scripture and God’s presence, so when you enter a room, the fragrance invites you to pause, breathe, and remember the Bible story it honors. It’s a natural way to keep faith present in your daily life, through the power of scent and prayer combined.

Meet Britt

I’m Britt, the creative + founder of BRDY Candles. I’m an environmental engineer by trade, an Oklahoma native, and a wife and mom of two in the thick of a busy, beautiful life. With hands that are usually full and a mind that rarely slows down, I’ve learned to look for the small ways God reaches out to remind me of His presence.

Sometimes that’s as simple as pausing to listen to the birds outside my window or lighting a candle to bring a moment of stillness into the day. Those little pauses became the inspiration behind BRDY — a way of weaving together our senses and Scripture so that others, too, can find sacred moments in the middle of everyday life.

(Fun fact: I really do listen to the birds now.)
